Ikot Ebo Ikono
This child of destiny was born on the 27th day of September in the year of the Lord 1957. Born into Nung Umana in Nung Ebo of Ikot Ebo Ikono Ibom in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He had his early childhood education at St. Patrick's Primary School, Mbioto (I), where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1968.
He proceeded to Community Secondary Commercial School, Ugep, Cross River State, where he obtained his General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1976.
He further proceeded to College of Education in Uyo (now University of Uyo), where he obtained a Natioinal Certificate in Education (NCE) in Physics/Mathematics in 1980.
From there, he proceeded to Borno State for the NYSC between 1980-1981. Still hungry for professionalism in the field of education, he proceeded to the University of Calabar in Cross River State, where he studied and obtained a bachelor's degree (B.Ed) in Mathematics Education in 1986.
As a hardworking young man, he started work in the Ministry of Education after high school and worked between 1976-1977 before proceeding to the College of Education in 1977.
After his NYSC, he was reabsorbed into the Ministry of Education, where he worked between 1981-1984 before he left for further studies at the University of Calabar between 1984-1985.
On completion of his degree programme, he was reabsorbed into the Ministry of Education, where he served diligently and rose to the rank of Director in 2009, a position he held until his retirement from service in October 2011.
This great teacher is a member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN). Currently, he is the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Team Club of Nigeria. He was President of Ikono Ibom Development Union from 2001-2007 and currently serving as a member of the Board of Trustees.
This illustrious son of Ikono Ibom Clan is the proprietor of GOSHEN SCHOOLS (Nursery, Primary & Secondary Schools) in Obio Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area.
This great son of Ikono Ibom Clan in Uyo LGA is no doubt a very big business man, he has been involved in Timber business for many years and has spread his tentacles across the length and breadths of the state. Presently, he is a respected patron of the Itam Timber Dealers Association, Itam - Itu LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
Above all, this great son of Ikono Ibom Clan is a child of God. He is an ordained pastor of Living Faith Church (aka) Winners Chapel since 2009, after he had served as Deacon and pioneer Chairman of the Deacons Board in the same church since 1997. In those days, precisely 1998-1999, he was the President of Business Men's Fellowship.
This great servant of God was the Associate Pastor at the Akwa Ibom State Headquarters of Living Faith Church (aka) Winners Chapel, Ikot Ebido, Oku - Uyo from 2011-2014, a position that was (No.3) in the hierarchy as at then.
By virtue of his position then as Associate Pastor, he was the Chairman of the Marriage Counseling Committee of the Church and through the grace of God upon his life, hundreds of marriages and families have been established. He performed so well as Chairman of Marriage Counseling Committee such that at the expiration of his tenure as Associate Pastor in 2014, the church leadership endorsed that he should continue as Chairman of Marriage Counseling Committee for another four (4) years. It is important to state that he did not disappoint God nor the church on that very important assignment all through.
Pastor Tony Akpan as he is fondly called, is a jovial and very optimistic fellow. He loves God and his people too. He is a born giver, a man dedicated and committed to kingdom stewardship.
This man of God is loaded with divine counsel for people at all ages and classes with practical life experiences to back his counsels. He is known for his forthrightness and Community spirit.
An independent minded entrepreneur/technocrat, a man of peace and goodwill with resonating smiles all of the time.
He has seen a lot of people through school (from elementary to tertiary levels) and has employed a lot of people into his conglomerate. This is aside those whom he was able to facilitate their employment into the civil service when he was still in Service.
He has a large team of dependants and adopted children who feed and live on him on daily basis. Infact, his house is more like a community and he takes care of these people without any segregation between the adopted and his biological children.
Pastor Tony is married with children.
