Dr. Enoh Bassey Silas
Ikot Eyienge Ikono
This precious jewel was born on the 24th of October, in the year of the Lord 1959 into the family of Late Ambassador Bassey Silas of Ikot Eyienge, Ikono Ibom in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
On completion of her early childhood education, she obtained her GCE O/L from the University of London in 1978 and also her GCE A/L from same University in 1980.
Having fallen in love with sciences, she proceeded to study and obtain her MBBS degree from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1988.
In her passionate crave for professionalism, she proceeded to study and obtain her master's degree in Public Health (MPH) from the Imo State University in 2013.
This glittering and real diamond has been a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons since 2013. As a sound professional, she worked as Medical Officer at Ojo Military Cantonment (MRS), Ojo - Lagos State between 1990-1991.
Between 1991-1992, she was Medical Officer at Kemta Nursing Home, Satellite Town, Lagos State. 1992-2006, she was Medical Director, Gilgal Christian Hospital, Lagos State. She had her residency training at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, Imo State between 2006-2013.
This brilliant daughter of Ikono Ibom Clan, a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynecologist (O&G), has been serving at General Hospital Iquita, Oron, Akwa Ibom State since 2014.
She has vested interest in the area of Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and empowering women. This great daughter has been sold-out to developing young people and women for future leadership. She has also been engaged in various Community development and sustainable poverty alleviation programmes.
Interestingly, when she was about 5 years of age in Lagos State, she had always told her parents that she wanted to be a medical doctor who would take care of pregnant women and children.
Her passion and destiny was made good when she gained admission to study Medicine after rejecting several offers to take up other sciences and paramedical courses in the University.
By divine providence, she eventually became the first female Consultant (O&G) from Ikono Ibom Clan.
She is married and the marriage is blessed with a beautiful daughter - a reputable journalist.
