Ikono Ibom Unity Forum Exco Pays Courtesy Visit To The National President

Yesterday, the Exco of Ikono Ibom Unity Forum paid a courtesy call on the National President of the Forum, who doubles as the Secretary of Uyo Local Government, Mr. Ubong Udofia.

The meeting played host to the hierachy of Uyo Local Government Council; the Chairman - Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, Vice Chairman - Hon. Pastor Sylvia Ekong, Leader of the Legislature - Hon. Ubong Effiong, Chief Whip of the Legislative Council - Hon. Emeti Aniekan and the Councillor Representing Ikono (II) Ward 10 - Hon. Obong William amongst others.

The team of Exco which was led by the 1st Vice President of the Forum, Hon. Anthony Ekong, who expressed happiness over the magnitude of unity felt amongst the eighteen (18) villages in Ikono Ibom Clan right from the outset of his reign as President of the prestigious forum.

The forum, having been delighted in Hon. Udofia described him as a humble servant-leader and assured the Council of his competency on the job and his capacity in handling even higher tasks and responsibilities if and when given.

The Chairman of Uyo Local Government, while addressing the people, described Mr. Udofia as a team player, loyal, supportive, dependable and very committed partner in the Service-Alone Team of the present administration of Uyo Local Government Council, he expressed pleasure over the visit on the Council Secretary and termed it as timely.

Dr. Uwemedimo used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel for the just concluded Flyover at Ikot Oku Ikono, which is due for commissioning on Friday the 16th of July, 2021. He called on Ikono Ibom people to appreciate His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for the project, while also trusting the Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration of the State for more dividends in Ikono Clan soonest.

In her Goodwill message, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Pastor Sylvia Ekong acknowledged the good administrative qualities of the Secretary, Mr. Ubong Udofia, adding that, he is a gift to Ikono Ibom people and Uyo Local Government at large. She encouraged Ikono Ibom people to continue to unite as they are well known for such disposition.

The Leader of Uyo Legislative Council, Hon. Ubong Effiong, in a separate message, thanked Ikono Ibom people for releasing such a good material as Mr. Ubong Udofia for service in the Uyo Council, he pointed to the fact that, Mr. Ubong is not only an asset to Ikono Ibom Clan, but a gift to the Uyo Local Government Council. He encouraged Ikono Ibom people to keep supporting him.

In his response, Mr. Ubong expressed happiness on the visit. He paid special tributes to his boss Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, calling him a leader and a brother who means well for the people, both for his humility in joining him to receive his people during the courtesy call and for always carrying him along in the administration of the Local Government.

Mr. Udofia also expressed his appreciation to the Vice Chairman, Leader of the Legislature and the two Councillors from his Clan that were present for what he described as a show of love and acceptance.

He further charged Ikono Ibom people to remain peaceful, united and focused as usual. Similarly, charged the Exco members of the Forum to get back home and mobilize people through the village focal persons of the Forum to come out on Friday the 16th of July 2021 to give His Excellency the Governor and his entourage a rousing welcome to Ikono Ibom Clan for the commissioning of the Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover.

Others who spoke during the visit include; Comrade Imo Udom, Mr. Sabbath Inyang, Mr. Abasiama Udoisong and Mr. EdiomoAbasi Ataudo - all celebrating their son Mr. Ubong Udofia in diverse ways.
